Geoff Noake
Geoff found his way into the advertising industry from school, joining the Derby Evening Telegraph as an office junior.
He spent seven years working in the newspaper’s advertising department and developed an interest in the advertising agencies he worked with.
Moving into the agency sector in 1977, he worked as production manager for an agency that created advertising campaigns for some of the largest UK construction companies. Among these were manufacturers of heavy plant and equipment, mobile cranes, oil rigs, fire engines, a main contractor and a regional housebuilder.
Having achieved qualifications in advertising, media and marketing, a career move north to Sheffield followed. In 1983, Geoff joined a large trade and technical advertising agency and worked as a media planner/buyer for global brands like Westland Helicopters, British Hovercraft, David Brown and other large industrial manufacturers.
Looking for a change in focus, in 1989 he moved to a small agency in north east Derbyshire and worked on the account of the largest fencing manufacturer in the UK. He wrote press copy, planned media campaigns and helped them to sell a wide range of fencing products into both high and low security environments.
In 2001, with a business management degree under his belt, Geoff started his own company in Sheffield and helped build this to sales of £3m in seven years, with 36 employees working from four offices. This unique group of advertising and language translation companies attracted household names like Capita Education, Motorola and Toyota, and many others.
In 2009, Geoff founded AdPlace Marketing and Media.
AdPlace creates a diverse range of business-to-business marketing, advertising, PR, e-marketing and social media campaigns for small to medium businesses. The work is predominantly for companies that have no marketing department or cannot find the time or resources to give marketing the dedication it demands.
Alongside this, he is a co-founder of StreetwiseSubbie and works with StreetwiseSubbie Buddies as a marketing consultant helping Specialist Contractors to achieve more from their marketing.
The marketing and PR support we have received from Geoff and his team has helped us to raise our game amongst our peers and is really helping to put Technica on the map
I have always worked with Geoff rather than simply “done business”... over the last 30 years across the architectural, construction and engineering design publishing sectors.
Geoff has... a clear understanding of a client’s objectives; a thorough knowledge of relevant promotional media; the ultimate selection of media in line with budgetary constraints.
